My favourite book.

To begin with, I have had many favourite books throughout my life, when I  was a child I was an avid reader. Correspondingly, one of my first childhood memories is of reading at my mother's job. I always have a liking for illustrated books. For this reason, Literature and Visual arts have been two of my constant interests. Eventhough I haven't taken the time to continue reading as much as I would like.
Nevertheless, I will concentrate on one of my favourite books in my collection, it is a photobook named "Artists Observed" by Harvey Stein (1986). It is a series of pictures depicting some of the most revelant Visual Artists at the time, including some short quotes or interviews. As a result, you can get a very private yet accesible approach to their approach to art and life, so as their interests, fears and opinions.
That is why it results so dearly to me, as an art student I have found a great source of inspiration and support through this book. Otherwise, I would have never known about the life of these people during those years. Since it is a somewhat old book ( It is almost my age), you can find a fresh portrait of these artists, many of them at their peak.
Besides, I truly like this book, since it came to my in a really random way. A couple of years ago, I visited my relatives in the US, and I spent a lot of time just wandering around Public libraries and used bookshops. I remember that I spent a whole afternoon at a Public Library Sale, it was amazing for me, since it had a huge catalogue of very exclusive books, some of them almost good as new.
Consequently, I tried to get as much books I could, yet I couldn't bring them all back to Chile. In the end, this was one of my choices, because I found it so rare and beautiful.
After that, this book is a common reference for me and some of my friends and classmates (and it is a good excuse for them to read in English too!)

  5. Oh! I love this kind of books, I think they're so didactic and I like the fact that you can read and watch it in disorder.

  6. Hi Daniel
The book is very interesting, especially those interviews that you mention that make known the personality and what the author wants to express.
